Highlighted here are a few of the remarkable people guiding our Retail Division, with brief backgrounds that show the depth and breadth of expertise they bring to the table.
Jim Given began working for SSC Service Solutions in 1979 as a custodial employee while attending the University of Tennessee. Upon graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Jim entered SSC's manager trainee program and has since worked in every level of management for the company. In 2012, Jim was appointed to oversee the Retail division of Eurest Services where he will provide leadership and oversight for our retail services operations across the United States. Jim has earned the BSCAI distinction of Certified Building Service Executive (CBSE).
Billy Murphy graduated from Carson Newman College with Degrees in Business Management and Economics in 1988. He began his employment with SSC Service Solutions in May of 1988 as a Contract Manager. He has since been promoted to Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Senior Regional Manager, and recently transferred to Eurest Services where he is currently Regional Vice President overseeing 20 states. Within these states, Billy is responsible for the following services: Housekeeping, Bundled Services, and landscaping. Billy is a Registered Building Service Manager (RBSM), and has achieved the dual designations of Facility Management Administrator (FMA) and Real Property Administrator (RPA) certifications from Building Owners and Managers Institute, International (BOMI).
Richard began working for KIMCO Services in 1980, where he soon became Senior Vice President providing direction for operations and growth throughout the company. After the purchase by Eurest, Richard stayed on and filled various roles within the new organization, including business development and key account management. His current assignment is Regional Vice President, managing commercial and retail accounts in the central region east. In this role, Richard has responsibility for fiscal oversight, customer retention, quality control and management development. He also has operational and fiscal accountability for our call center managed business portfolio. Richard received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois and his MBA from Loyola University. He has also earned his CBSE designation and completed Six Sigma Black Belt Training.
Judy Helms, Divisional Risk Manager for Eurest Service’s commercial and retail accounts, manages the Risk, Safety and Workers Compensation programs for all of Eurest Services’ janitorial & housekeeping accounts that service retail malls, large office buildings, museums, banks and retail stores such as Kohl’s T-Mobile, JC Penny and Home Depot. Judy earned a Masters degree in Health Care Management; she has previous work experience as the Risk manager for a major international airport and as a Claims Manager for hospitals, retail stores, and commercial business and construction accounts. She has managed insurance claims involving employer’s liability, general liability, workers compensation, premise and product liability that sometime involve multiple vendors, contracts and conflicting insurance coverage.
She is married and resides in Dardenne Prairie, MO with her husband and two kids.
Shannon Thornton began her career with SSC Service Solutions as an assistant in the Human Resources Department in 1991. As SSC has continued to grow as a company Ms. Thornton lent her expertise in several departments including accounting and operations. Ms. Thornton returned to the Human Resources Department as a Recruiter and Training Coordinator in 2004 and was promoted to Vice President of Recruiting and Training in November of 2005, responsible for the hiring and training of all SSC management team. She also directed the development of new training initiatives like Train the Trainer and SSC’s Account Acquisition and Retention program. In January of 2011, Shannon joined Compass Group USA as a Senior Human Resources Consultant.
Sandra began her career in the facilities maintenance industry in sales with ABM. In 1990 she accepted a position in Memphis with KIMCO Corporation as an account executive. Her performance and leadership ' skills led to a promotion as Regional Manager for the Memphis market and 3 years later she was again promoted to Regional Vice President over the Southeast, managing sales and operations for commercial and retail. Sandra is dedicated to delivering a level of excellence in customer service and satisfaction. In her current role, she also focuses on new business and rebids as well interfacing with the sales and operations teams. Sandra is an active member of BOMA, IFMA, ISSA and BSCAI, and earned a CBSE (Certified Business Services Executive) designation from BSCAI in 2006. Sandra received a BBA in Marketing from the University of Mississippi.
